Back-to-School Night

The Maitland Montessori PTA invites you and your family to the annual "Back-to-School Night"! This is the first official event of the school year!  Free pizza and drinks will be available as we meet the PTA, lay out our plans for the school year, review the budget, and get parent feedback in an open PTA meeting.  There will be entertainment available for the children while we meet.  The event is held at the elementary/middle school.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon of bowling, enhanced by pizza, snacks, and refreshments.  (Bumpers optional!)  You may pay at the door, but please be sure to RSVP to Dan Chancellor with an e-mail at or a text 407-350-1070.  Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and get your bowling ball and shoes.

Friday, October 27
Times: 6:15-8:00 p.m.
Chili Cook-Off/Halloween Party

Please bring chili to the event with serving spoon and put name on ALL non-disposable dishes. Crock pots will not be used; PTA will provide heated serving trays. Contact Kim Murphy at if you will bring chili for contest. Awards will be presented for chili contest.  For potluck dinner, please bring savory side dish, dip, or dessert with serving dish and spoon and put name on ALL non-disposable dishes. Water will be provided and there is no need to sign up in advance for the potluck. Children can wear costumes and collect candy (NO swords, guns, or masks, but DO BRING treat bags). Saturday, November 11
Times:  7:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

An adults-only fundraising evening that supports all of the events we do throughout the school year. Since the event will be held at a private residence, the location can only be disclosed to ticketholders and cannot be posted on RenWeb or our website.  Advanced tickets (purchased before October 27) are $50 each.  Tickets purchased after October 27 or at the door  will be $65 each.  You can pay with cash; a check made payable to Maitland Montessori PTA; or through VENMO, an app you download (pay @mms-pta).  If you are purchasing tickets on the day of the event, please contact Kim Murphy at  An award will be given for the Best-Dressed Couple (dressed to the theme of "A Night in Old Havana").

Friday, December 15
Times: 6:00 p.m.

The students will perform a winter concert, featuring singing and recorders, as we all enjoy hot chocolate and coffee (even if it is 85 degrees like last year).  The "world famous" Cookie Walk will also take place.  Please donate cookies, cupcakes, and other sweets (store-bought or homemade) before or on the night of the event.  Containers can be purchased ($3 for small and $5 for large) which can then be filled with an assortment of treats.  All proceeds from the container purchases will benefit the PTA.  Questions?  Contact Dan Chancellor at or 407-350-1070.

Holiday Market

Gifts for parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, teachers, and even pets will be available for $1 each. Gift wrapping will be included. A form will be sent home so you can indicate for whom you're shopping. The market will be open during school hours. No child will be turned away from choosing gifts for their loved ones, regardless of their ability to pay. Volunteers for wrapping gifts will be greatly appreciated. Questions? Contact the PTA at

Highland Games Meet-Up, Central Winds Park, Winter Springs

Tickets must be purchased in advance by NO LATER THAN MONDAY, JANUARY 8 from Ms. Leslie in the main office between 7:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday (keeping in mind that the schools and the main office are closed December 23, 2017 through January 7, 2018).  Please bring cash or a check made payable to Maitland Montessori PTA or send a Venmo payment to @mms-pta. Ticket prices are: children 6 years old and under, FREE; children 6-11, $5; anyone 12 years old and up, $15.  Tickets will be sent home with your child the week before the event.  The fun-for-all-ages event includes shopping, food for purchase, ancient athletic events, bagpipe bands, traditional dancing, border collie herding competitions, strength and skill competitions, a catapult, a children's hands-on area, and much more.  Questions?  Contact Ms. Leslie at 407-628-0019 or

Saturday, February 17

Hearts in the Park (formerly SpringFest), Lake Lily Park, Maitland

Formerly known as SpringFest, our family fun day in the park has been bumped up a couple of months so we can celebrate a day of love on Valentine's Day weekend! This free event is held at Lake Lily in Maitland from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. and features a DJ, classic games, face painting, and old-fashioned fun. Food, drinks, and popsicles will be available for purchase from local vendors.

Friday, March 16
Times: All Day

Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Last year over 300 students, friends, and family members made it out to LEGOLAND to participate in our most popular event of the year. It's a teacher workday so your kids don't have school anyway. Spend the day at a theme park built with your child's creativity in mind. Tickets are $15 each for children ages 3-12 years old, $30 each for adults (13 years old and up).  Tickets must be purchased no later than Friday, March 2.  Please see Ms. Leslie in the main office.

Friday, April 7
Times: 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Spring at the Zoo, Central Florida Zoo

Tickets must be purchased in advance.  Tickets are $9 each for children ages 3-13 years old, $12 for adults, and $11 for seniors (60+).  Children 2 and under are free.  Annual zoo pass holders are welcome to attend.  Those who purchase tickets will receive wristbands that they will need to wear when entering the zoo; pass holders must show their annual pass.  Questions?  Contact Mrs. Beresheim at 407-628-0019.
