Notes from the Directors:

We hope everyone had a restful summer, and we welcome all our new and returning students.  We look forward to the children settling into their classes and daily routines nicely.  Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, our door is always open.

Please take a moment to look over the newsletter.  Overviews of class activities are reported on alternating months, with general news being announced every month.  The school calendar is also available on the Web, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It's Your Child's Security

*ALL gates locked at 8:30 a.m.
*ALL students and visitors are buzzed in after 8:30 a.m.
*ALL students are signed in after 8:30 a.m. in the main office.
*ALL students are escorted to class by staff after 8:30 a.m.
*ALL adult visitors must have a visitor pass from the main office if they are remaining on campus.


Please remember that sandals, flip flops, Crocs, and boots are not appropriate for playtime.  Be sure that your child wears closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes such as sneakers or Mary Janes.

Glass bottles and candy are not allowed in the children's lunchboxes.  Please pack two napkins along with a nutritious lunch and an ice pack.  Please include a healthy snack if your child will be staying in after-school care.  Try to use reusable containers and cloth napkins if at all possible.  We recycle by returning recyclable items to you in your child's lunchbox; please put these items in your recycling bin at home.

Parents, please remember to sign your children in at the main office when arriving late.  Your child will be escorted by staff to his or her room.  Any non-staff adult on the premises must have a visitor pass.

During morning drive-thru drop-off and afternoon pick-up, we ask that parents remain in their cars.  To keep drive-thru flowing smoothly and quickly, we ask that you arrange conferences or seek answers to any questions you might have by phoning us or parking your car and coming into your child's school.  Please turn off your cell phone while in drive-thru.

Please keep all contact information up to date in the main office and your child's school.  In case of an emergency it is IMPERATIVE that we be able to contact you.  Incorrect information could result in a delay.


If your child will be late or absent, please contact your child's school that morning by 9:30 a.m. to let his or her teachers know the reason for his or her tardy or absence.  If your child's school has not received a call by 9:30 a.m., we will attempt to contact you to ascertain the cause for your child's tardy or absence.


After-school activities are available for an additional charge.  Information was e-mailed before school began and is available on RenWeb under "Resource Documents" when you log into your family account.  Activities offered this year will be a drama club and pre-ballet, yoga, art, chess, track, and music-and-movement.

Our schools have an active PTA.  Parents and other family members are encouraged to become involved.  PTA meeting notices will be e-mailed to you and posted at the schools.

Are you looking for a way to recycle paper and be environmentally conscious?  Bring us your spare printer paper after you have printed on one side--instead of throwing it away.  We have all kinds of uses for recycled paper, and the trees will thank you!

Our first Friday Fun Lunch at the Maitland schools will be Friday, September 9.  Cheese pizza (no toppings) from Francesco's will be offered at $2.50 a slice.  You may purchase pizza by the month or in several months' blocks.  Simply complete your child's pizza form and return it with payment to his or her teacher(s) NO LATER THAN Wednesday before 11:00 a.m.  Your check should be made payable to Maitland Montessori PTA.  Pizza order forms will be available shortly under "Resource Documents" when you log into your family account.

Please keep in mind that we cannot issue refunds or credits for the days your child may be absent and misses his or her pizza.

Uniforms for Elementary/Middle School

For 2016/2017 Educational Outfitters is our uniform supplier.  ALL uniform clothing must be purchased from this company.

The clothing is high quality and available at competitive prices.  Educational Outfitters (5135 Adanson Street, Suite 115, Orlando, 32804; 407-897-5363) will replace any item that becomes prematurely worn through regular use and washing, or that shrinks or fades.

If you are ordering online you will need the school code:  FL0835.  The "0" is a zero and not the letter "o."

Gently used uniform clothing is also available from the uniform "store" which is being run by the middle school students.


Volunteers at our school perform all kinds of good deeds.  They listen to our readers, make donations (goodies, craft supplies, and books, for example), give demonstrations, etc.  We are grateful for the time each of you takes to be with our students and to help the staff.  If you are interested in being a school volunteer, please contact the school directors or classroom teacher(s).  Please keep in mind that we do not use volunteers for the first six weeks of the school year, and you are required to go through background screening before volunteering.

Drive-Thru and Security

Morning Drop-Off

7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. - The driveway will also be open for drive-thru drop-off

8:15 a.m. - Classes begin at the elementary/middle school.  Your child is tardy after 8:15 a.m.

8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. - The driveway gates will be locked.  The Swoope Avenue pedestrian gate will be locked.  The only access to the campus will be via the elementary/middle school pedestrian gate.  Please ring the bell.  The office will identify you via a video link and/or audio; then you will be buzzed in.  EVERYONE WHO IS BUZZED IN MUST GO TO THE MAIN OFFICE IN THE ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDING.  Sign in your child (This applies to both preschool/kindergarten and elementary/middle school children.).  Preschool/kindergarten children will be escorted to their building.

Visitors who will be staying (i.e., therapists, volunteers, maintenance workers) must come to the main office in the elementary/middle school building, sign in, and be given a visitor's badge.  When a visitor leaves, he or she must sign out and return the badge to the main office.

Please be aware that there will be times when the office administrators are both out of the office at the same time, taking care of school business in other parts of the campus.  Your patience will be greatly appreciated.

Preschool/Kindergarten 11:45 A.M. Pick-Up and Drop-Off

Your child will go to the playground to play.  At 11:45 a.m. he/she will move to the red table by the pedestrian security gate to eat the snack from his/her lunchbox and to await pick-up by 12:00 noon.  If your child is still with us at that time, he or she will join his/her classmates and you may pick your child up using the procedure stated above.  P.M. arrivals come through the security gate and go to class at 12:00 noon.

Afternoon Pick-Up and After-School Care Pick-Up 3:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M.

2:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m. - The driveway gates will be open for pick-up.  The pedestrian gates will remain locked.

3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. - Driveway and pedestrian gates will be locked.  Any walk-in pick-ups must enter the campus through the elementary/middle school pedestrian gate.  The buzz-in system will be in operation by the staff member on duty with the elementary/middle school students.

5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. - All children will be at the preschool/kindergarten building; drive-thru gates will be open for drive-thru pick-up.  If it is raining, the drive-thru gates will be open.


All non-staff adults on the premises must have a visitor pass if they leave the main office to go elsewhere on campus.  Please remember we are doing this for safety reasons; our staff must know that adults have signed in at the main office and have been cleared to be on campus.  These measures are not designed to keep you out, but rather to ensure that everyone your child encounters at school has followed procedures and is on legitimate business.  Thank you for working with us.
