3. Our Mathematics Program The Montessori math program uses hands-on materials to help children understand mathematical concepts from pre-school through 6th grade. We will help your child develop a clear understanding of math by encouraging manipulation of numbers in visually and physically stimulating ways.

4. Cultural Subjects The sciences, including botany, zoology, history, and geography are taught from the age of three. Art also forms an important part of the curriculum, with both structured and informal opportunities for children to participate. Our schools actively encourage a love of music with classroom lessons devoted to musical concepts.

D. Maitland Montessori Elementary The basic philosophy and process of working with concrete materials to learn a concept is continued in the elementary classroom, using many of the same materials at a more abstract level. The Montessori elementary program permits a variety of approaches using at every turn dynamic and colorful manipulatives that materialize the abstract. The elementary child moves from the concrete material to the abstract by visualizing mental concepts once demonstrated by the concrete.
The Montessori program concerns itself with basic concepts at a very young age when basic skills are comparable with the development of the child. By the time the Montessori child is elementary age, he is ready to explore culture, the sciences, the arts, and the universe.
