Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in our schools. We offer a traditional Montessori program for children from 2 years old to 6th grade. We hope the brief outline below will lead you to make an appointment to come and discover the full scope of the education we provide. We are very proud of our students, schools, and the tradition we have established during the past years.

A.  Student Enrollment
The Altamonte Montessori School enrolls students from ages 2 to 6 years old. Students are able to continue with their Montessori education to 6th grade at our Maitland Campus.

B.  Modern Day Applications
At the Altamonte and Maitland Montessori Schools the concept of educating the whole child is central to everything we do. The result is a curriculum which uses all the traditional Montessori materials and is additionally supported by the use of  IBM computers.

C.  Active Learning
We empower our students to initiate their own activities, helping them to develop self-reliance, independence, and a sense of ownership of their work. We give them the responsibility of planning and meeting their objectives.

D. Importance of Literacy
It is important that the child understands the crucial role literacy will play throughout his or her life. We also aim to instill a love of reading and literature. We use phonics to teach reading. We place emphasis on reading, speaking, spelling, and formal grammar.

E. Our Mathematics Program
The Montessori math program uses hands-on materials to help children understand mathematical concepts from pre-school through 6th grade. We will help your child develop a clear understanding of math by encouraging manipulation of numbers in visually and physically stimulating ways.

F. Cultural Subjects
The sciences, including botany and zoology as well as history and geography, are taught from the age of three. Art also forms an important part of the curriculum, with both structured and informal opportunities for children to participate. Our schools actively encourage a love of music with classroom lessons devoted to musical concepts.
