Who are we?

Maitland Montessori School, Inc. has been owned and operated by directors Adele Fondo and Muriel Owens since 1987. Through their leadership and commitment to Montessori education, they have built a stable and vibrant school community. Their familiarity with the history and traditions of the City of Maitland and the surrounding areas has helped them create a Montessori school which fills an important niche in Central Florida. The Maitland Montessori schools have received recognition on state, national, and international levels.

Approximately 6,750 students to date have passed through the doors of our schools, and staff often receive high school and college graduation invitations and campus visits from former pupils, indicating their gratitude for their academic foundation that was built at Maitland Montessori. Maitland Montessori is extremely proud of the strong bond this shows between our directors, teachers, school community, and students.

Maitland Montessori School, Inc. has multiple accreditations. We are accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS), AdvancED (formerly known as Southern Association of Colleges and Schools [SACS]), and the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA). Our preschool/kindergarten programs have held the State of Florida Gold Seal year after year. We were also a pilot school for the new AMS protocol in 2014. These recognitions are evidence of Maitland Montessori’s ability to teach children and to educate teachers through our Montessori teacher education programs.

Our Teachers

Maitland Montessori School hosts AMS-affiliated and MACTE-accredited teacher education courses. What this means to you is that all of our teachers have been fully trained and selected to meet the high standards and expectations of our school. Our teaching staff has a long term commitment to the school and we are extremely proud that their tenures range from six years to 20 years of service.

Some comments from our teachers:

I have an exceptional opportunity to teach at a school that offers so many learning opportunities for teachers.
There is always an open door policy at MMS for children, parents, and teachers. It is a true community with a love of children at its core.
The directors are very supportive of the staff and families. They are always making sure the children have everything they need for their education.
To see the joy of a child’s face and the confidence established is amazing to see. That is why I love coming to work, teaching and seeing the growth within the child is a privilege.
I appreciate personal enrichment through my interaction with students, parents and staff.
When my daughter turned 3, I found MMS and fell in love with the school and the Montessori Method. I trained to become a teacher and have found joy coming to work every day.
